CASTELLO D’ALBOLA (AR): La vittoria sfugge per poco in Toscana, a Castello d’Albola nella Coppa Rocca di Montemassi, con l’ungherese Mark Valent e Diego Bracalente che salgono sul 2° e 3° gradino del podio. Continua così l’ottimo periodo del gruppo. La gara è stata vinta da Andrea Piras, 22 anni, che ha tagliato il traguardo in solitaria dopo 130 km corsi alla media di 39,9 km/h e 3h:16:24”.
Per Mark Valent arriva però il successo nella classifica combinata che somma i punteggi delle prove toscane. L’ungherese precede Francesco Della Lunga, che fino allo scorso anno vestiva la nostra maglia. Una prova impegnativa, quella odierna, che ha visto i ragazzi della formazione del team manager Antonio Bevilacqua, di Gabor Deak e delle famiglie Ballan e D’Aprile interpretare una gara di controllo e poi di ricucitura come spiega il DS, Davide Martinelli.
“Avevamo gli occhi puntati addosso, visto il periodo di grandi soddisfazioni che stiamo vivendo. Non è stato facile gestire la corsa. Si è sganciata una fuga di 4 attaccanti ed abbiamo lavorato a fondo con Vesco e Volpato per ricucire. Nel finale Bracalente e Valent sono usciti di forza, rimanendo in testa con Piras”. Sul risultato: “Siamo soddisfatti di aver portato a podio 2 corridori che sin qui non avevano ottenuto piazzamenti. Significa che il team sta andando forte e possiamo contare su più opzioni tattiche”.
GIOIA UNGHERESE: La parola va ai 2 protagonisti. Il più felice di tutto è l’ungherese Mark Valent: “Un perfetto test prima del Tour d’Ungheria. Il team ha fatto un bel lavoro, abbiamo lavorato e ci siamo mossi insieme tutto il giorno. Il successo nella combinata è comunque un bel goal. Sono soddisfatto della classifica a punti e anche della performance di oggi, ma naturalmente c’è sempre un po’ di amarezza dopo un secondo posto”.
L’ungherese stila un primo bilancio della sua esperienza italiana. “Mi sento bene con il Team, è chiaro che sto migliorando velocemente con loro. È davvero bello far parte di un gruppo così ambizioso di persone preparate. Anche l’esperienza italiana è piacevole. Penso di essermi abituato allo stile di italiano e ora si vedono i risultati Queste gare di inizio stagione mi hanno aiutato molto a migliorare. Un enorme ringraziamento al Team”.
Primo podio pure per Bracalente: “Per me un bel segnale – racconta Diego – perché è il primo podio in 2 anni nella categoria U23. Anche se non sono un corridore appariscente, mi impegno sempre per ottenere il massimo. Questo podio è però importante e in prospettiva e mi regala tanto morale. Generalmente con il caldo vado meglio e quindi mi aspetto di crescere. L’unico rammarico è la vittoria sfumata, ma ha vinto il più forte”.

RICORDIAMO LE PROSSIME GARE U23:
Il 1° maggio il team va in provincia di Verona, in Valpolicella a Sant’Ambrogio. In corsa ci saranno Bagatin, Lepold, Cipollini, Casalini, Boscaro e Monister. In quest’occasione si registra il rientro alle corse di Sergio Meris, che era fermo da una ventina di giorni a causa di una caduta che lo aveva visto riportare una frattura al coccige. A dirigere il team sarà Flavio Miozzo.
Il 5 di nuovo spazio ai velocisti con il Circuito del Porto, nel Cremonese, gara internazionale dove solitamente si assiste a un grande arrivo in volata. Per questa ragione Samuel Quaranta, Davide Boscaro, Matteo Fiorin punteranno al bersaglio grosso. Ancora da definire nel dettaglio il team di supporto.
Lo stesso giorno si corre anche in provincia di Arezzo, a Montalto, per il Memorial Tortoli, dedicato al DS prematuramente scomparso. Guida il team Flavio Miozzo.
VALENT AND BRACALENTE ON THE PODIUM IN TUSCANY. HUNGARIAN SUCCESS IN THE COMBINED
CASTELLO D’ALBOLA (AR): Victory narrowly slips away in Tuscany, at Castello d’Albola in the Coppa Rocca di Montemassi, with the Hungarian Mark Valent and Diego Bracalente claiming the 2nd and 3rd steps of the podium. The excellent period for the group continues. The race was won by Andrea Piras, 22 years old, who crossed the finish line alone after 130 km covered at an average speed of 39.9 km/h and 3 hours, 16 minutes, and 24 seconds.
However, Mark Valent secures success in the combined classification that sums up the scores of the Tuscan races. The Hungarian precedes Francesco Della Lunga, who until last year wore our jersey. It was a challenging race today, which saw the riders of the team managed by Antonio Bevilacqua, Gabor Deak, and the Ballan and D’Aprile families interpreting a race of control and then stitching together, as explained by DS Davide Martinelli.
“We had eyes on us, given the period of great satisfaction we are experiencing. Managing the race was not easy. A breakaway of 4 attackers broke away, and we worked hard with Vesco and Volpato to stitch it back together. In the finale, Bracalente and Valent emerged strongly, remaining at the front with Piras.” On the result: “We are satisfied to have brought two riders to the podium who had not yet achieved placements. It means that the team is strong, and we can rely on more tactical options.”
HUNGARIAN JOY: The word goes to the two protagonists. The happiest of all is the Hungarian Mark Valent: “A perfect test before the Tour d’Ungheria. The team did a good job; we worked and moved together all day. Winning in the combined is still a good goal. I am satisfied with the points classification and also with today’s performance, but of course, there is always a bit of bitterness after a second place.”
The Hungarian makes an initial assessment of his Italian experience. “I feel good with the Team; it is clear that I am improving rapidly with them. It is really nice to be part of such an ambitious group of prepared people. The Italian experience is also enjoyable. I think I have gotten used to the Italian style, and now the results are showing. These early-season races have helped me a lot to improve. A huge thank you to the Team.”
First podium also for Bracalente: “For me, it’s a good sign – says Diego – because it’s the first podium in 2 years in the U23 category. Although I am not a flashy rider, I always strive to achieve the maximum. However, this podium is important and perspective-wise, it gives me a lot of morale. Generally, I perform better in the heat, so I expect to grow. The only regret is the missed victory, but the strongest won.”

THE NEXT RACES U23:
